Beautiful Life

It's days like today that remind you what a beautiful life it really is! Bodie woke me bright and early at 5:30 and from there the day began. We enjoyed time outside and then came in to immediately begin chores. Good news - the laundry was done by noon! For those of you who don't know, I think laundry is the worst chore awaiting you week after week AFTER WEEK!

I even had time to make my Andrew some homemade banana choco-chip pancakes before he woke up.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 Banana
  • 1/2 cup choco-chips

I am still amazed by how easy homemade pancakes are to make. Just mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and heat!

Mmmm... delicious!

After my stomach was filled with an apple and pancake, I headed out for a Saturday morning run in the 70 degree heat. Sadly, I had to leave the woof behind. It was too hot for the nugget.

Pre-run excitement!

After the run I felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment! The laundry was done and I finished my workout for the day.

Soon, Bodie and I headed over to my parents house for the day.

While Bodie caught up on his suntan and the guys played golf, my mom and I headed out (with everyone else in Colorado) to purchase some flowers.

I would say it was a successful trip!

I am going to leave you with a daily prayer I found today on my new favorite blog Dashing Dish. Enjoy!

Father, please help me to see myself as you see me. Your word says that you give me the desires of my heart as I delight myself in you. I desire to feel good about myself, so I can be confident and be a vessel of your blessing here on earth. I thank you that you are helping me to reach my perfect weight in Jesus’ name.

I thank you that you are teaching me to listen to my body, and to exercise self control in a healthy way. Help me to find an exercise that I can enjoy, and help me to do it in a healthy consistent way. Help me to enjoy healthy foods, and to eat the right portions at the right time of day.

Father, I submit myself to you, and resist the devil in every way. I resist wrong foods, and wrong ways of thinking in Jesus name.  I am kept in perfect peace in all situations, because I choose to keep my mind on you.

Lord, thank you for loving me and empowering me to succeed at reaching my goal weight! I believe that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Top 5 Last Week

1) The weather - one day it snowed, the next day it was beautiful!

2) Bodie Time! The woof and I had a ball last week. We went on two runs together, the dog park and played rope 3 mornings before work!

He was one tired pup at the end of the week.

3) Robin Eggs & tea - the simple things in life : )

I highly recommend Guayaki tea. I usually buy the bottled tea, but opted for the Chai Spice Mate and Mate Chocolatte tea bags. Brew the tea as usual and add two tablespoons milk...delicious! Make sure to wash it down with 10 to 20 Robin Eggs!

4) New BIGGER Apartment! The best part, the woof LOVES it! Bodie is like a whole new dog. He just lays in the middle of the living room and does not go near the couch (woo hoo!).

Bodie's Favorite Room
More pictures to come once we are all moved in.

5) First day in the new place means good eatin!

Bagel Sandwiches
Bodie enjoyed his share
Goat Cheese & 3 Greens Lasagna
I enjoyed a run in the sun during lunch today, but am still feeling a little motivated. Off to the gym (or maybe just 500 abs).

Reunited

Thanks work spouse (also pumpkin) for making me snap this flyer!

I finally made it back to the gym after a 2 week lull! Oh how I have missed the gym. I started my workout with a 35 minute run and then moved onto Cardio Blast (compliments of my favorite healthy food and fitness blog PBFingers).

Cardio Blast

50 Jumping Jacks
20 Alt Lunges
10 Tuck Jumps
20 Squats
60 sec. High Knee (or in my case 30 sec. High Knee & 30 sec. Butt Kicks)
10 Squat Jumps
10 Burpees
2 minute Jump Rope
20 sec. Mountain Climbers
25 Girl Push ups
60 sec. Plank (or in my case 15 sec. plank, 100 crunches & 50 Obliques)
**Repeat the whole thing!

My face was beet red & my arms were BURNING once I made it to the 60 sec. plank. Don't worry the second round is much easier than the first.

After returning home to find Andrew back from golf, I inhaled an apple topped with munster cheese and ran to catch the 2:30 showing of Cedar Rapids.
Hilarious, I highly recommend it!
Post movie, I began work on my birthday gift from August! Andrew bought me a guacamole bowl...also know as a molcajete.

This bowl is a piece of work. After soaking it in hot water, scrubbing it, and grinding white rice in it twice, I called it a day. I cannot wait until it is completely seasoned and ready for guacamole, chips, and hand poured margs!

Dinner Time

Andrew and I devoured ahi tuna, grilled asparagus, and half a bagel thin.

We seasoned the ahi tuna with olive oil, lime, and salt-less chipotle seasoning.

Now off to finish watching the Country Music Awards! I wish I recorded Andrew when Steven Tyler came on stage with Carrie Underwood...priceless!

Bear is back

It's officially SPRING! The sprinklers are running, the High Line Canal is packed full of bikers, runners and walkers, and Bear is out and about.

Not that bear. Bear is a big, burly man living in the apartment complex. Every morning when the weather inches above 50 degrees I wind my walk down (with the woof of course) and Bear begins his. Bodie quickly runs behind me (scaredy cat) and I inch as close to the parked cars as I can get (I guess you could call me a scaredy cat too). Then Bear reminds Bodie and I of his soft, sincere disposition with an energetic "Hi, how are you?" Bear stepped up his style over the winter and was sporting a fashionable neon vest last Wednesday.

You know what else Spring means...firsts! This Spring I would like to hold myself accountable. I am working to present myself in the best manner as possible - healthy, patient & caring. What better way than to blog! Join me as I build my closet : ), live a healthy life, and dip my toes in the world of business.

Here it goes : )

I spent the day with my mom and sister shopping for bridesmaid dresses. We began at Jessica McClintock (literally a 2 minute trip), ran over to Nordstrom's, then Cache, Macy's, and finally David's Bridal. We found some great leads!

Don't worry we took a break towards the end for lunch at Brio. I enjoyed the grilled salmon salad. Who knew pesto Salmon was so delicious? Oh yeah, the crispy shoestring potatoes didn't taste too bad either! I practically licked my plate clean.

After the shopping excursion concluded, my mom, dad, and I hit up the grocery store. I picked up ingredients to make Mexican Lasagna and Strawberry Cheesecake bars. Both turned out delicious (thanks to moms help).
You are probably thinking how gross the lasagna looks, but I assure you it tastes delicious!

Look for the recipe section soon!

Off to catch a good night's sleep before Andrew and I begin packing up our apartment. We are moving to a BIGGER apartment next weekend! Have a great night!
